DESCALING MACHINES
Descaling is a mechanical cleaning process performed by repeatedly bending the wire in different directions to separate it from the mill scales. O.M.F. descaling machines are simple but functional to guarantee reliability and very low costs of ownership (TCO). They are used whenever the removal of mill scales is necessary before starting further processing and without the need for further cleaning.

ORBITING BRUSHING MACHINES
Brushing is an operation complementary to mechanical descaling, as it allows us to remove any residual mill scale from wire.
After breaking the mill scale with the descaling machine, high-speed rotating brushes will remove any residuals from the wire.
OMF's winning idea was to combine high-speed spinning brushes with an orbital rotation around the wire.
This ensures the wire is cleaned uniformly, without causing any abrasion or material removal. A filtration system, connected to the brushing machine, will then cool the head and filter the brushing dust.
The result is completely akin to the "chemical pickling" process, but with significant advantages:
- great value for money
- more ecological process
- simultaneous cleaning and drawing processes
- longer die life
Many of our customers take advantage of our brushing machines to remove excess stearate after the drawing process: this ensures a polished and clean wire to be fed to other lines. Our brushing machine is also effective in cleaning non-iron wires, such as stainless steel and copper.
The FA.SO brushing machine lines feature a wide range of options in terms of wire speed (up to 5 m/s) and maximum diameter (up to 22mm - without descaling, and 15mm - with descaling).
You can see our standard production in the table below.

ROTATING DIE HOLDERS
OMF was the first Italian company to produce such equipment. Our intuition was to avoid the ovalization of the die by forcing its rotation, either mechanically or with a motor. Nowadays we are a leader in the field, with more than 7000 rotating die holders delivered all over the world!
A remarkable achievement, that combined with a very high MTBF, certifies the reliability of our products. That's why our customers have been choosing our solutions for 45 years now.
Our rotating die holders cover a wide range of wire diameters, from 3 mm up to 20 mm, and can support all types of dies: single, conical, pressure, ParaLoc™, etc.
That’s not all: our die holders can be fully customized and tailored according to the specific dimensional requirements of the customers.
We can satisfy every need in terms of size and positioning on existing lines by modifying the location of the motor and the shape of the container.
We only need to know the characteristics of your production and the maximum size of the die holder that you require. Our technical department will take care of the rest, providing the best machine (standard or customized) for your needs. Our main goal is to give you excellent value for your money.
We also produce special die holders for specific market niches (i.e. for the production of helical wire).
The technical staff of OMF can satisfy any production and dimensional needs.
Here is a table of all our die holders.
